WHAT IS CONSUMER ASSISTANCE COUNCIL?

Our non-profit agency works in cooperation with the Massachusetts Attorney General to educate consumers and merchants on consumer issues and to resolve consumer complaints.  We service Cape Cod & the Islands.

HOW DOES CONSUMER ASSISTANCE COUNCIL HELP YOU?
WE HELP YOU BY:

• Offering information pamphlets on a variety of topics so that you can make intelligent buying decisions.
• Providing speakers and education programs to employers, groups, schools, and social service agencies.
• Promoting ethical advertising and selling practices.
• Disseminating consumer information through the media, local agencies and groups.
• Maintaining a Consumer Library of information on consumer topics.
• Maintaining a local, state and federal referral listing for obtaining information.
• Helping to resolve consumer complaints of fraud and unfair and deceptive merchandising practices.

AND IF YOU HAVE A COMPLAINT WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Complete and provide us with a Complaint Form so we have the information in writing about the problem. We will contact the business in writing asking for the facts from their point of view. Expert volunteer mediators then work with both consumer and the business to reach a satisfactory resolution. If the company does not cooperate, or fails to resolve a complaint satisfactorily after several requests, the consumer is advised of other options. Consumer Assistance Council does not give legal advice; we provide consumer information and options for alternative resolution.
